Ecrins Haute route (Alpine climbing)

Did a four day trip round the Ecrins Haute route with Toby, Dave and Mal. Didn’t get either of the summits (Dome de neige des Ecrins and the grande ruine) done as there was lots of windslab about. Two out of three of our huts were unguardianed, which was cool (cheap and a bit more adventurous), but meant we didn’t get the huge feeds that are usual at the end of a days touring. Toby and I were experimenting with minimal food, with some spectacular results (where is Toby? Oh, he’s still half way down the hill behind us…). The high point in minimal food was reached by a hungry and quieter than usual Toby, 2 snickers bars for a 12 hour day with 2100m of skinning!
