LAMM 2007 - going nowhere fast (Running)

Well I predicted it was going to be a giggle, and it was, downright hilarious even! The first day was super hot, and all the teams struggled so despite feeling like we’d not run very well we finished the day just 16 minutes behind the leaders. Day two dawned overcast and cool, and six teams in the first quarter of an hour meant it was going to be very exciting.

The excitement faded as we spent ages searching for the first checkpoint, before finally realising we were on the wrong hill! All thoughts of improving on our overnight position (6th) evaporated and we started to have a chuckle at how stupid we’d been. Chuckle turned to laugh when we realised at the next checkpoint that we’d marked it a kilometre out. Laugh nearly turned to cry and retire when we found we’d marked the fourth checkpoint in the wrong place also. We finally arrived there to find the marshalls removing the checkpoint since they figured everyone would have found it by now! From here on all went smoothly and we were running well. We finished with smiles on our faces in 9th position, and with a good few months of piss taking to look forward to!
