Jack of all trades... (Rock climbing)

Just back from a busy and wide ranging four days off. Spent Thursday at Dunkeld, where I redpointed The Chopping Block (F7b) then climbed Twilight (E1) before driving down to Chester with Guy Robertson and Tim Rankin. We then spent a day at Roscolyn on Anglesea, getting cooked in the sun and enjoying perfect rock by the sea. I felt like I’ve been doing too much sport climbing and not enough trad, and gibbered my way up my only lead that day, Godzilla (E4, 5c). An early start the next morning to catch the train to Lancaster and meet Jon Morgan for a lift to the British and English fell running champs race in Duddon Valley. What a race! Twenty miles, 6000feet of ascent, tough and hot, but a great route and some good battles. I ended up 18th and just under three hours, which I was a bit disappointed with, but not really surprising given the previous two days exertions. Must try and plan my days off better so I don’t end up racing right after two hard days climbing! Finally Sunday was a warm down with Jon at Malham where we climbed Carnage right hand and then Carnage original. Knackered!
